His main influences are Jimi Hendrix, Eric Johnson, Jerry Cantrell, Kurt Cobain, Sid Barrett, David Gilmore, Eddie Van Halen, Randy Rhoads, The Beatles, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Stevie Ray Vaughn, Cream, Smashing Pumpkins, Led Zeppelin etc….
Damien Anthony Ayala – Born to a family on welfare on October 22, 1976, the year of the Dragon, always the overachiever he was an honor student throughout elementary where he would be constantly distracted with his love for drawing. With a natural ability to speak in front of crowds and a good sense of humor he was a likeable and smart kid. At age 6 he often imitated artists like David Lee Roth and Vince Neal. Damien spent many nights in his room dancing to his favorite songs as he played air guitar. At age 16 he began forming bands. After purchasing his first guitar he tormented his mother for years as his bedroom became his practice room. He would never graduate. Heavy drug use, girls, and several times in jail could not stop him from improving on his drums and guitar, and singing. Which was one department that had unanimous rejections from critics. He was told many times how awful he was. He went on to drum for the regional act The Dog Men Poets and the frontman for the band Crankshaft, a tongue-in-cheek, post-90’s, three-piece band which truly encompassed his more developed guitar style and showed his progress as a singer. In 2007 his brother Carlos joined him as his bass player for the band Minimum Wage, which housed a more laid-back approach to his song writing and is his current opus.
Damien spent his time painting, reading, writing, singing, dancing, and playing the guitar. He’s written over 100 original songs, he’s painted several paintings, and written a book. He’s played guitar and drums for more than 10 years, and sang and danced all his life. Being an attention whore he has found himself the center of attention and the face of the bands he has played in. Self-employed and always ready to rock his stage performance is a cross between Jim Morrison and a stripper possessed by the devil. He is often approached by the audience with unanimous approval from critics.
